Tips n’ Tricks

Things I’ve learned along the way

Home for the Holiday

Christmas is a time for laughter and joy. It’s a time for eating, drinking and relaxing with family and friends. A time to embrace giving but also secretly relish in receiving and as many couples know, it’s also the time of year to compromise on what side of the family to spend Christmas with.

This year, we are headed back to Ontario for Christmas to spend the holidays with my side of the family and I couldn’t be more excited.

Style Secret: Clean Out Your Closet

A girl can dream.

My closet looks nothing like the ones in the magazines, or the above picture for that matter (which is Whitney Port’s closet if you were wondering).

Personally, I would refer to my closet as poorly designed, cramped and a source of mild frustration but also, one of my favourite places.

I love waking up and deciding what I’m going to wear, but seeing as I don’t have a lot of space, I need to make sure I use all items within.

Style Secret: Shop at Winners

Vancouver is a great place to live if you like to shop.

There are amazing boutiques, fabulous department stores, and one of the most expensive retail shopping strips in Canada (Robson Street) – all within a few blocks of each other.

With so much selection throughout the city, I often find myself frequenting the same stores out of pure habit, one of them being WINNERS.

When I mention I regularly shop at WINNERS, people often respond with, “I can never find anything there,” or, “How do you do it? It’s so unorganized”.

Style Secret: Makeup Splurge vs. Save

I have a few guilty pleasures I like to indulge in.

Chocolate, red wine, trashy television, ’90s playlists and makeup. Oh boy, do I ever like my makeup.

Like many people in this day and age, I am a contributor to the every growing beauty market. A market so large that it is estimated to reach $265 billion in 2017.

Recently, I’ve received many compliments on this hairstyle but sadly, I can’t take credit for it. Well, I can take credit for doing it, but not for creating it.

I, like so many hairstyle-inept individuals, have learned how to do our hair under the guidance of Amber Fillerup Clark aka the Barefoot Blonde. Amber is a former hairstylist turned full-time blogger and my go-to-guru for everything hair.
