Get out there and see some amazing things

Five Weekend Getaways From Vancouver

There is so much I love about Vancouver within the city itself that I could go weeks without leaving my downtown bubble and be perfectly happy, but sometimes you just have to get away.

It doesn’t have to be far, but it’s nice on a weekend to pack up the car, hit the road and check out somewhere new (or one of your old favourites).

Santorini: Sunset Cruise

SANTORINISUNSET CRUISE

The Greek island of Santorini conjures up a variety of images when you hear the name.

Stark white buildings atop jagged cliffs, contrasting blue domes that are signature to the town of Oia and the quintessential donkey.

Santorini is such a unique island and visiting is like uncovering a rare gem, only to find out that everyone and their grandmother already knows about it.

Style Secret: Aveda Institute Vancouver

I received the best colour and cut of my life when I was in Lisbon, Portugal. Despite the language barrier, we were able to communicate and I received exactly what I asked for.

It made me realize that my hairdresser at home maybe wasn’t all I thought she was. Maybe I had become complacent going to her for so long that I never even realized how unsatisfied I was until I was forced to try someone new and it made me remove my rose coloured glasses.

Three delicious dishes to try in Greece

athens-greece

There is so much to love about Greece.

The history, the islands, the culture, the people and of course… the food!

Honestly, I was a little concerned about the food in Greece because they are known for their love of olives (which I dislike) and their use of feta (probably my least favourite cheese – don’t judge me!). But I soon realized, when it comes to eating, Greece offers one of the most diverse dining experiences and some of the best food I’ve had the pleasure of inhaling.

Therefore, for this Thursday’s Three Things I’m talking about my favourite dishes in Greece.

To cruise or not to cruise? Pros and cons of cruising

On Sunday, I was taking a leisurely walk on the seawall and I noticed something I had yet to see in Vancouver.

Three cruise ships docked at Canada Place. The ships, Princess Cruises’ “Crown Princess”, Holland America’s MS Oosterdam and MS Zaandam, carried a total of approximately 12 800 people who were getting ready to either disembark in, or embark from our beautiful city.

It was quite a sight and as I saw them all departing through Coal Harbour later that day, one after another, it had me thinking, “Is taking a cruise something I should look into?”.
