When I look back on my first trip to Vancouver, almost three years ago now, there is one memory that stands out. One painful, gruelling, yet exhilarating experience that stands out amongst the other memories I made during my trip… hiking The Chief.
The Stawamus Chief, just 40 minutes from downtown Vancouver, is a mammoth rock face that towers over the city of Squamish and offers unprecedented views of Howe Sound and the coastal mountain range. For a beginner hiker it was a rough journey, therefore; despite the amazing views, climbing “The Chief” has never been my go-to suggestion for Vancouver visitors. Suddenly, all of that has changed.
As we approach the end of our 6 month European adventure, I have noticed myself looking into the depths of my suitcase and thinking, “Could I have done better?” By that I mean, could I have packed less, would I have chosen different articles, are there things hiding in there that I haven’t even touched?
I wrote before on how packing for long-term travel can be somewhat daunting (find the articles here and here), and how it’s tough to pack for weather that will span three different seasons: winter, spring and summer. But now, as I sit here with two days left of our trip, I think, “I did a pretty damn good job”.
When you’re thinking about planning a Greek vacation, the decision of where to go can often be overwhelming. With the country’s rich history, a temperate climate, and hundreds of islands to choose from, what you’re looking for in a vacation spot becomes a choice of personal preference. But allow me to strong suggest Crete.
Crete is the largest and most populated Greek island, and was the first stop on our Greek island tour. We chose it because we were told by friends that it was their favourite, and convinced us that we’d be missing out if we missed this beautiful place.

Two days in Rome is one of the most over-saturated travel blog posts ever, so instead of regurgitating what is already out there for all to see, I’m going to share with you what I liked and didn’t like about my visit to Rome this past May.
