Unplugged

Lighthouse Park

It’s been a while since I have last visited my corner of the internet and I’m happy to say it stills feel like home.

Did I miss it? Of course!

But I needed a break. Why you ask?

Honestly, it came down to the feeling of being over-connected.

A feeling that I had started to live more of my life in a virtual world than in the real one. That I was spending more time in front of a screen then I ever thought I would.

My days began to feel something like this:

Get up- check phone (text, email, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, news sites and whatever else caught my eye),

Go to work- check more emails, respond to various emails, work online all day, scroll through sites such as Elite Daily, Thought CatalogNotable and copious others between assignments,

Come home- more phone time, more computer time and frankly, not enough ‘real life’ time.

I had enough. Enough of the ‘likes’, enough of the ‘hearts’, enough of filters, the comments, the concerns, the constant “creeping” and the social media vortex that I didn’t even realize I was free falling into.

So I decided to take a break, I just never realized how long a break it would be. Almost 60 days and counting…

I’m happy to be back, but I’m just not sure where I go from here, I guess we’re on to another chapter in my “what”.

Any thoughts?

It’s nice to take a break from internet stuff every once in a while, especially when you start feeling like it’s taken over too much of your life. I’ve taken my fair share of breaks and I’m sure I’ll take more in the future. However, I am glad to see you updating again!
