Home for the Holiday

Christmas is a time for laughter and joy. It’s a time for eating, drinking and relaxing with family and friends. A time to embrace giving but also secretly relish in receiving and as many couples know, it’s also the time of year to compromise on what side of the family to spend Christmas with.

This year, we are headed back to Ontario for Christmas to spend the holidays with my side of the family and I couldn’t be more excited.

Blogger Love: New Discoveries

What can I say about November… so long and good riddance!

The days got shorter and darker, the weather in Vancouver was pretty ‘Meh” and since I was participating in Sobevember, I couldn’t even have a drink to boost my spirits. Needless to say, I’m happy to put November behind me.

Black Friday Sales in Vancouver

The other day I was in Forever 21 and as I left, the change room associate said, “Just so you know, we open at 6am on Friday”. I gave her a puzzled look, responded “Thanks?” and walked away thinking “Why would Forever 21 be opening so early on Friday?”

It took a while but then dawned on me; Black Friday – apparently has become a big thing in Canada. I hoped it would never come to this.

Five Things To Do in Las Vegas.

I’m happy to say that I have very fond (and mildly fuzzy) memories of my last trip to Las Vegas.

I went with my girlfriends at the tender age of 21 and had the time of my life. We drank, danced, ate till our hearts content and shopped like we had never used a VISA before. We skipped lines, wore short dresses with 5-inch heels, and one of us may or may not have ended up in one of the Venetian fountains; but that story is for another time…

It truly was the quintessential girls trip and has had me wanting to go back ever since.

‘Tis the Season: Christmas Events in Vancouver

I distinctly remember growing up in our household we were not allowed to bring out the Christmas decorations until after December 7th… my little brother’s birthday.

My mom would try her best to hide the Sears Wishbook (Canadian 90’s kids – you know what I’m talking about) from us and forbid decorations (with the exception of outdoor Christmas lights) until my brother had blown out the candles on his birthday cake.
